Thanks for all of the great information. Really! This is more than I expected. If there are any more stories or information, keep it coming.

BTW, a few moments ago I got off of the phone and am in the process of scheduling an ACL surgery in september.

The meniscus story scared me Robert, so I asked about that. All that they could tell me was that the MRI showed I still had one, as for how much they weren't able to tell me.

Well for the remainder of the season, we'll have to take you on tours that are "light on the meniscus". ;)

Sorry about your knee, but it doesn't seem like it has slowed you down any! That quality that you posess will be great for healing and your future skiing after surgery. Just don't over-due it right off the bat. Did you see the freestyle arielist who blew her knee out at the Olympics? She had just had it repaired 6-7 months prior and was landing from 30' up in an ACL tearing motion. I'd say that's pushing it...Anyway, my wifes a PT and recommends a surgery using a cadaver tendon. This way, you are not giving up something that you have that is in good working order, and are guaranteed not to have problems with them (patella tendon or hamstring tendon). That's a big guarantee...Stick with the one surgery (ACL repair) and not TWO! (tendon harvest and ACL repair).
I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you have been having swelling or pain in the knee. After my wife's initial swelling went down the ACL never really bothered her. She would just get a catching in the joint. She had been told initially that her knee problem was a subluxating patella and that was responsible for the popping and catching. It turns out this was not true and the catching was a bucket handle tear in the meniscus. Eventually the tear got so bad that it got stuck and she couldn’t bend her knee. I had to carry her off the back side of Mt. Lichtenberg. If you have not been having big problems with your knee you may have no damage at all. They should have been able to see any significant tears in an MRI. Hopefully it will not be a problem for you. If it is it really just increases the likelihood of arthritis later in life from likely to almost certain. Her surgeon explained it to me as something that wouldn’t cause her much grief until she was 60 or 70 years old. Good luck with the surgery, but I think this may put an end to your TAY streak.

Jason, my stratgey for surgery was to schedule very early in the month after a day skiing and then rehab to ski at the very end of the next month. It Worked good I made two light and easy runs and then went home an rehabed for another 30 days before skiing again.
