Another, non-ski forum I frequent has a limit of 50kb on attachments, with no real limit on the number of pics per post (though the mods like to hold it to 4 per post, if possible). I would've thought that 50k wouldn't be much of a picture, but if you resize it right and save it with a slight reduction in quality, you can get really good 600x800 size pics that come in around 45kb. I use IrfanView (a free, fairly in depth photo editor) for that purpose.

My 2 cents...

Marcus

Charles and other posters:

This is a matter of getting trip reports or not getting trip reports on this forum. I didn't realize there was a limit on posting photos until it was brought to my attention. The fact of the matter is, when I post a trip report I would like to post more than one image. I think there are others who feel the same way. If you upgrade to a WYSIWYG editor and have advanced viewing options for the members, this will fix the problem. Don't let technology hold people back from posting such awesome acheivements on this forum. Otherwise, expect less traffic and content due to the technological limitations of this forum.

I personally like the photo's in the message and would rather not have to be directed to other sites to view photo's. How many people out there are actually using dial-up these days?

IMO it seems the rule is a bit out-dated. Just my 2cents...

I would like to see multiple photos. People often put a lot of effort into TR's and that's great! But when I look at a long write up and there are no photos to pull me into the story, then I often don't read. Plus photos are part of the story. Multiple links aren't fun to push. I like to see it all on one page included with the writing.

Having a size max like 800x800 pixels would be my only suggestion.

Just a quick vote for more photos. Especially when I'm at work, the photos brighten my day

I would also vote for more photos. I don't see a need for any limit on the number. I think it makes the TR much more interesting to see the route or conditions than to just read about them. I would support a size restriction, but wouldn't be adamant about that.
