TAY Seasonal Donation was created by JibberD
Looking at Charles' post on the site being down for a few minutes tonight reminded me that he puts effort and expense into what I often see as a free service... Ê

I recall last year's round of donating; a small way to help keep the site going. ÊIs this a possibilty again this season?

I'm in again for this year.
As a backcountry skiing tool, for me, this site rates right up there with my skis.
I'd certainly hate to see it go away, or worse yet, be forced to go to some sort of mandatory pay or subscription site.

I'm in again as well. This site is truly a fantastic resource for the northwest backcountry skiing community...

Donations are certainly welcome, and thanks to those who have made one. It is my goal to keep this site both with free access and without advertising, and donations help me justify keeping it this way.

The work involved in keeping the site going is enjoyable for me (except in the rare cases where a feud breaks out), but most importantly, I can't imagine trying to make skiing choices without all of the information that TAY members contribute. So thanks to everyone who posts here!

I should also mention that in the past year I have called on two members, Ron and Mark, for advice a number of times, and their (sometimes different) viewpoints have been indispensable in helping me make decisions. Both Ron and Mark serve as "official" moderators as well. Thank you both for your contributions of time and mental effort!

Playing a similar but much less visible role are the many TAY members who act as "unofficial" moderators with no special powers on this forum other than their levelheadedness and ability to communicate effectively. There have been a number of times when these members have defused a situation before it got out of hand, and in doing so saved me time and effort. I really appreciate all of your efforts!

Not long ago I happened across a reference to the Trip Reports somewhere on the Web which stated that the forum we've developed here has the "highest signal-to-noise ratio" of any that the writer had seen. I agree with this and thank everyone who has worked to make it this way.
