TAY Seasonal Donation

It's possible I missed it, but I don't recall seeing the seasonal donation post this season. In any case, it's worth reminding that Charles does our community a great service at his own expense and that, if you frequent this site and if you are able, giving a little back is something worthy of your consideration.

Thanks for the plug, Skip (and for your donation)! One bit of clarification regarding, "Charles does our community a great service at his own expense". Because the TAY web site is now (since beginning of 2006) owned and operated by Turns All Year LLC, technically the expenses involved in operating the site are no longer my own expenses - I'm just a faceless pion in the relentless march of company operations. The startup money for the company did come from me, though...

Personally I'd like to see the site be able to remain free of advertising, although I know that this is not that much of a priority to some people. To remain free of advertising, TAY LLC needs to eventually be able to show a profit, however small, at the end of the year. In 2006 company income (mostly donations, with small royalties from t-shirt sales and photo use licensing) would have about matched expenses if not for those expenses associated with starting up the company. So, if donations this year can match last year's level, then the company should be able to avoid showing a loss for 2007. If this doesn't happen, then the company will probably need to look at adding income from advertising.

Given how much time I spend battling other priorities just to get in a few simple turns, making a donation seems like a bargain. The trip reports and telemetry have delivered time and time again.

All this information at my finger tips! From snow conditions to Dynafit high performance modifications, not to mention the constant entertainment from the great trip reports and other threads.

I'm in for '07!

Bumping this thread up for the 2007-2008 year. TAY has become an essential for me - finding partners, planning trip, conditions. I'm certainly donating this year. I see that 2006-2007 donations (at least in terms of donators) was about 50% previous years.

I'm in, with both Rusty Knees, two fat skis, and a dog with fleas. Thank, Charles.
