Skins: tip loop adhesion troubles was created by JibberD
I'm having trouble with my skins staying attached to themselves where they double over the tip loop ???

I've tried heat and weight to press them together but they continue to seperate, especially after being wet.

I'd like a mechanical solution if anyone has one. Is there a needle and thread tough enough to penetrate the skin. Or perhaps a glob of heavy duty glue? A clamp?

What are people doing to solve this problem?

I've sewn through some of mine near the tip loop and it solves the problem, but my sewing machine is an industrial Pfaff with a 1/2 hp motor - I'm not sure a regular machine would do the job. Also makes it hard to adjust the skins to fit another pair of skis . . .

The Speedy Stitcher (awl and thread) is handy to stitch skins, gloves, packs, etc. I bought mine and extra thread at REI.

I stitched my skins to remedy the problem that you describe.

Hey Doug, Speedy Stitcher is the answer like Randonee says. Next time out, Ron can give you some tips on that handy item ;D. Should be able to fix up that skin problem real quick.
