Yeah, the gaps are getting filled in, slowly - the new Shilshole section of the BGT and the East Lake Sammamish trail (even though dirt) are a treat, and it's heartening to hear that planners are actually aware of cycling as a mode of transportation . . .
Now we need to deal with the people who've been throwing tacks on the Burke Gilman the past three weeks!

Greg where exactly is the problem with the tacks on the BGT? Can you give the location using cross streets as "brackets"? I use an old mountain bike with knobby tires and its finally getting light during my commute hours so the tacks may be a moot issue for me. Thanks for the specifics.

Hi Eric, it's close to your house. It's happened twice, both times during the night Thursday or early Friday morning, between 112th and 125th or so. Someone has placed little dark grey tacks on the trail (very short, about 1/4") that are almost impossible to see, and stay upright on their own. Many people flatted both days, but the city sent a sweeper through last week (and riders tried to clean them up on their own).
Pretty amusing, huh?

Hey there bikers,
Just a reminder to encourage others to bike to work, especially during the month of May. Form a team of new and veteran cyclists and join the Cascacde Bike Club/Group Health Bike To Work commute challenge
Enjoy the sun, the view, and the ride.
Ride safely,
Jessica

hmm.... I just got back from France... you should see what they ride their bikes on there! Narrow cobblestone roads, no shoulder at all, fast traffic, no helmets. We have it easy!

Interesting article in the P-I today -- (too long to copy & paste) --
seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/266713_bicycling14.html
But there are stretches of potholed, narrow roads

Anybody out there commute from the north end of Seattle or shoreline to Bellevue?
I am trying to anticipate the ride length and best route. I plan to drop down to the BGT, ride north via kenmore and drop down through kirkland, then up and over Clyde hill region to right near overlake hospital.
Any distance guesses? or route suggestions greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Chris
