Fun report. Thanks for sharing!
Please note: this post belongs under March trip reports. Therefore any claims at first descents are disqualified.
Yes, Nisqually chute skied great with no sharks but an abrupt end in boulders. Getting back to Glacier Point had me a little worried but ended up easy.
I prefer La Lavanche, where one can ski untracked powder up to three days after the storm... or coulouir le chapeau, 4,000 vertical of steep windpack...
Thanks for posting Ed! Great trip. Wish the current one was going as well!
As long as you misspell McClellan no one will know!
Thanks for the uptrack. We followed it to crown face, above which it was mostly blown over/away!We also had a great day! Powder and steeps! We were the first ones (left the car at 8:30 or so) but there...
That tele skier in your Russel shot is me! Would love any photos of our group. Beautiful day out there!Matt
I ended up skiing the bowl on the north face of Yakima Peak today - and our group of three were surprised there was no one else there. Just the three of us riding pow all day. I guess everyone was acr...
Sweet!
I especially like that first picture.
Nice work Eduardo. Also, decent turns in the Blackcomb backcountry last weekend!
Nice Dave!
Nice video Marcus!I was at the Capitol Hill celebration that night, and skiing the Chutes on Saturday....I'm sure we'll run into each other sometime!- Matt
Hi Tony, my name is Matt. Two friends and I skied down a different chute the same time you were skiing the Nisqually. Nice to see you are a TAY-er!Here's a mediocre video of our dayAs an aside, c...
Short fun video done by long-time lurker Andy G.
We found clean lines down from the ridge to around 6100. It was well consolidated and corn... better corn than I found all last spring! What was going on on the other side???
Nice tour.I'm thinking of doing this tomorrow (Monday). Any advice of ski routes off of the north face of Seymour peak?Did you do a car shuttle/hitchhike for this?- Matt
I don't know what you guys are talking about... it was sunny and powder at Chinook Saturday morning... well, as long as you were there ridiculously early.I had to catch a noon flight to Chicago,...
Shrimp pot was at 200'... it's a fishing kayak so it's super stable. You're right about it being tiring though! As for the all in one day thing, it was actually two days, but could...
See you there this Sunday maybe... we're headed to ski that Needles chute.- Matt
Pretty funny to see a report about Red Hill here. I grew up in Meredith and have hiked to the top of Red Hill at least 50 times. But I never skied there, being a WV brat...Glad you had fun!
Pretty good snow (a few inches of dense powder on top of old snow) from 5400 to maybe 4000. Crusty or mushy below depending on the elevation. On the return, the south facing stuff was very crusty belo...

There was only a couple inches at the bottom (enough to skin), and then a couple feet at the top. The best coverage/least rocks was from the chute that heads down to the hairpin.I don't know thou...
Who hoo! Great day and nice pics. Nice to meet you guys. Snoslut, did you post any other pics online anywhere?- Matt
Thanks for the report. Headed up there this afternoon...- Matt
Skiing still looks good! Good to be a NWesterner! :)
Thanks so much for posting the report. Am/was/still maybe thinking about it for this weekend...- Matt
Looks like it was deep! Nice report!I myself was turned back due to the climax slides thundering down around us in the Glacier Peak area. ;)-Matt
