How was traversing from the back side of pineapple over to melakwa lake?
i dislike you immensely
Interesting that it wasn't THAT windy on the muir snowfield - we were across the nisqually having a go at the finger and got to about 9,400 feet before we could barely stand up.
Hey - yeah, we saw you coming down the bottom half of the colour, impressive line! Good call on bailing on eldorado, the glop was pretty deep on the stuff lower down.
you can drive to the gate at the eldorado TH. There is continuous snow from about 1/4 mile after the gate.
There is a climbers trail into the drainage from the colonial creek road crossing, but we hit snow a few hundred feet above the road, covering it - yielding a miserable bushwack traversing a very stee...
Yeah, a friend of mine and i schwacked up the colonial creek drainage hoping to avoid the nasty climb up to the pyramid ridge a few weeks ago... We were not too hopeful, as getting up on the colonial...
cool trip! Could you give an estimate of how steep the mesachie icefall gulley gets?
wow, that is one crowded hut. Baker was pretty awsome - here is snoslut's report:http://elibcblog.blogspot.com/
Ski crampons would have been a good idea, forgot them at home....
you stole our pow! Bums... We went up monday and the slot was pretty icy up top, with really hard wind packed snow down lower. Awesome pics tho, glad you guys had better turns than w...
looks like a fun trip - how do you like the garmin canadian mapset on the GPS? Is the 1:100,000k series good enough for anything? I have the 24k series for the us parks (which is fantastic...
Conditions were pretty stable, the cornice was really hard and seemed solid - took me a good 15 minutes of whacking with my whippet to get through.
good pic of you guys on scherman from the summit of bakerhttp://www.flickr.com/photos/spcmanspiff/734021250/in/set-72157600684031464/
no, there wasn't continuous snow until a few miles up the road...
its only around 2 miles to the summer trailhead, not too much time sucking 2-stroke fumes. The circus has begun however, there was a part of 11 directly behind us, and we saw about 20 people in...
we skinned around from summit east, and came back over and down under the lift.

Hey bill, sorry I missed you - the glacier was fun, although the stream crossing up and down five foot snowbanks was 'interesting'. Glad you guys had a good trip down! (i've since cheated...
Chuck, Lara and I headed up to ptarmagine ridge with similar results.http://spcmanspiff.users.poppinfresh.net/P9250068.MOVhttp://spcmanspiff.users.poppinfresh.net/P9250069.MOVWe dug a few pits and fou...
anyone know what the avy conditions are like? Winds seem to be less further north, but there is no wind telemetry on the baker station :(

sadly, it was an empty beer can... I'll post some pics later tonight. It was pretty runneled all over the place from snowmelt. Good coverage though.
