March 2, 2008, Lake Ann Area (Baker BC)

WA Cascades West Slopes North (Mt Baker)

Headed up to Lake and with Snoslut, GregM and some new acquaintances. Were lured by the chance of clearing skies in the north cascades, but our aspirations of mt. ann were quickly squashed by the weather gods. So, we lapped the 600' or so knoll below the shoulder to lake ann; nice and sheepish and surprisingly deep snow! Awesome area, have to go back when things clear up.

well, you know what caused your weather problem....: It's the snoslut. Ever since he caught a "Snowy Transmitted Disease" from a mossy tree narry a month or two ago, Mother Nature has been spitting "Dis-ease" all over the poor snoslut. Maybe that explains the perpetual snow in his beard, or the endless photos of him obscured by large rippling waves of snow. Trippy.
No weather problem in the Baker BC on Wednesday. Yesterday it was bluebird, felt bottomless and enough faceshots that would make Peter North jealous. Just had to stay in the shade. Outta of the shade the snow was creamy.
I must confess. I did cheat to get out to Artist Point. Photographer Steve Matera got me a free lift ticket. However, we did skin and boot from that point on. So being told where and when to turn is a whole new experience in learing patience and waiting.
