Did you ski Holy Diver off of Rossevelt?
We dropped in a little earlier with the same snow down low, today looked like a better day! Did you see the slab that pulled out of the center chute?
I was there too and went back to Avalanche Basin yesterday(24th) and 6" of low density new lay above 5,600'. We skied the chutes north of Brain Damage and stopped about 200' below the r...
Today offered no improvement, just a soft ride down Edelwiess to the base.
I skied the Nisqually Chute on Wed the 30th at 12 and it was the best corn of the day with only minimal rollers and no entrainment. The hazard was low when we skied through with no sloughing on steep...
There are people doing it(i.e speed traverses), it takes some knowledge or the route like a previous effort, great conditions and a lot of planning to nail the traverses in the same conditions t...
Awesome guys! Way to slay it!
author=burns-all-year link=topic=28315.msg119168#msg119168 date=1366409009]This was not a first descent.More info please BYR, would like to know the dets..thx,Matt
Toured up to the exit of Thunder Creek and enjoyed 2 laps in the Phantom Trees meeting the vague description Silas gave. Settled 6-12" powder with immediate cross loading above 5k. As you can see...
Roaring Ridge was good as well, albeit the longer flat approach. Powder was found from 2,900 - ridgetop with random wind affect on more easterly exposures.
Damn, 5 star!
We skied from Pineapple and 3 runs back toward Piss pass and down by Trashcan in boot Top shaded conditions. Surprisingly good and cool throughou the morning and early afternoon.
I think Silas did a great job highlighting what he saw, leave it to NWAC for hard data, it is just a TR, not a forecast. As for Crystal, it went big, with and without explosives, which really tells us...
author=JPH link=topic=20444.msg86883#msg86883 date=1302029407]The upper mountain is probably amazing right now, but I didn’t feel comfortable heading all the way up by myself with all the new snow, ev...
Way to slay it!
Amazing trip, well done!
Is this a trend to just mention aspect and elevation?
Speed and difficulty will limit snakes as well....
Showed up at noon and found fresh tracks, awesome afternoon on 2!
Agreed! I dropped my daughter off at 9:30 for lessons, toured up 2,200' and skied great knee deep, occasionally blower back to the car with friends!
Great vid Jeff!Skiing one at a time is just to avoid exposing the whole party to a hazard. If the hazard is not present then the buddy system or spacing out on a slope is acceptable. BC travel techniq...
Great TR, way to slay it!
Good timing and good skiing, nice job getting out Jeff!
The issue is not the trees but how they relate to the terrain. You can ski to Pineapple Basin and trigger small avalanches in the trees that have nowhere to go because of the configuration of the slop...
I believe this was the most skiers I have ever seen on the summit of Mt Baker. It may be time to christen it 'Tuckermans West!' Great skiing for sure!
If you are triggering avalanches, tree bomb are triggering avalanches is that the sign of the devil and the end is near? Only if you hear a voice in your head that sounds like your avalanche instructo...
I don't know if we bumped into your party. Aaron and I left the parking lot at the same time and toured up and skiied the Bryant Couloir, but it did not start snowing till noon. We had some clear...
