Wolf Rock is a 1000’ andesite monolith in the foothills of the Oregon Cascades. The standard climber’s walk-off is a South facing mossy slab. The last two seasons I’ve skied in to find the South Gully filled in but the walk-off slabs bare.

On December 29th, the wolf had a full coat, and the walk-off made for a straightforward ski descent. Further over on the South Face there's some ice flows that surely haven’t seen many ascents and might be worth a visit if we see another cold snap.

How did you summit?

I booted up the walk-off and skied from the ridge, not the true summit.

Lowland extreme skiing, wild!
