The snowfield always has been crowded on a sunny Saturday in June but I've never seen so many skiers as part of the mix. There were moguls on pan face, true story.

Saw your tracks on my way back to Yaki-Vegas from “mixing with the masses.â€Â The east-side bowls look good, did you make it over there?
Do you mind sharing the details of your secret sauce for pollen mitigation?
Swix or Toko liquid wax. Put it on right before your run down.

I'm a bit concerned this quest, if achieved, might have some adverse consequences for the solitude you can get touring up there...

Thanks for the TR. I followed your tracks down to the slop then skinned back to join the masses above Pan Point. Glad it got better for you down lower. I've been trying to convince the Swedish U-21 Women's Skimo team to come to that area for spring training for years now. Its simply perfect.

I've been eyeing this for some time. Have to get away from the volcano magnets!
Yaaa they exert a strong pull....
Nicely done CrystalStevens, that's a killer line I've stared a few times.

Splendido. Looks like another fun packed balmy weekend in the Snoqchamoniox alps. The valley of 1000'falls looks delightful.

I saw your post just before posting mine, it would have been crazy to run into someone up there! The summit ski is totally worth it and I hope you get to do it some time! In case you want it for your next attempt, here are my gpx tracks. I stopped in the middle to save battery so here is a link to my ascent: https://www.gaiagps.com/public/Ip1dUzVuEpSdFYwc2b8TQtsU

Any pics of the line you decided not to ski?
There was a big rocky knob in the middle of the north side of the col. The following photos are looking first down skier's right side of that knob and second skier's left. Skier's left was worse. I'd guess the distance at 400 feet. We belayed down to a bench to get a look. I think you might be able t...

I've been itching to get back there since doing a four-day trip starting at lake lillian and coming out that way. Camping high on Lemah and ticking off the ski lines on each of it's summits would be dreamy!
If anybody wants inspiration for a super fun traverse this is what Lake Lillian to Lemah Creek looked like in late June several years ago: https://vimeo.com/100678132

Thanks for the great report - definitely hoping to get up this next season!
"The summit climb is mostly protectable fourth class scrambling once you get around to the northeast side of the rock pyramid."
Did you pitch the scrambling to the summit? Any gear notes? Seems like it could potentially be a spooky solo in ski boots...

Awesome Awesome Awesome! Wish i'd followed you I've been wanting to do this for years! Fantastic trip. Thanks for the report. It hurts and it inspires. I was on my way to Overcoat from the East this weekend and got skunked by a steep bit that I was unwilling to cross. If I had, maybe I'd have met you on the glacier!
Thanks for the report. Nice work!

Are those nasty boulders still snow covered?
We were able to stay on snow from the lake, but I don't know now. Maybe if you go around to the base of Aasgard you could stay on snow without boulder hopping.

Sorry, I meant to add 4th crossing not open and the road going south in the valley is not open.
I heard from Andy Carey they are still doing helicopter operations out of that lot.

Can you drive to/park at the 4th crossing parking lot?
Thanks

Yesterday, I was sitting on a deck on Stretch Island and there was a great view of the Paradise area. It was Jill's brother's 75th birthday party. I pulled out a pair of binocular and said to my grandson “I see another older guy skiing along the Paradise Glacierâ€. Of course, he believed me. Your TR also validates my sighting yesterday. ;)

inspiring solo trip and excellent/informative report, thanks
Thanks for the kind comments; I was feeling kind of sappy and thought some of you might relate. MW88888888: I've really enjoyed your trip reports and was emulating them (poorly) here.
I really enjoyed this. There is a lot going on in this tr and I'll think on it a while. Thank you.
Excellent...speaks to many of us. ..good stuff
Thanks for the nice, thoughtful trip report, and beautiful pictures, too.
This is a wonderful trip report. We go to the mountains in part to search for deeper understandings: of ourselves, our families and communities, of the world itself. Thanks for sharing this portion of your own search here with us--and the bits of wisdom with which you returned.

I really enjoy the TR that provides the feeling of the day. We all have feelings but few can express it in words.
Thank you. ;)
Thank you. ;)
Killer write up - an area I've always wanted to check out. I need to get a bike!
Man! Great write-up Jake! Is this a haiku?
Now hang up that errant board and let's think Slesse.

We were one guy one gal. Dogs were all good. The one named Nugget got real friendly when we pulled out our lunch
...thanks for the props fellas.
The approach coverage always seems to kick in at 4000', maybe 3 miles from DM horse camp, as the trail bumps up to just before Iron Cap; pretty much bone dry before, full coverage after, althought the swamp may melt out holes, and there is a patch of young trees just after the bump-up that you need to remember to stay right by the river to dodge.
The snowline is at about 4500'. The thin, steep gully's are melting out & will becom...

Maybe that was you coming up behind Zach, who was on the ridge? We dropped in (3 skiers, dogs, 2 snow skaters; think you were barked at :/ ) right as you were climbing the final pitch to the ridge.. if that was you.
Hope y'all caught a bit of that lovely sunset, and that fast, firm ski out was a nice change from the norm this season, I thought. good times.

My group of two and about 7 others and three dogs found it easy to ski the road, with a couple short carries, from the car and into the basin - on Memorial Day. Likely you can still do it that way for a bit.
Oddly, we were the only ones to take multiple yo-yos - everyone else did one run and left for the BBQ I suppose. Was nice to ski from the shoulder on the third run and all the way to the car.
Did the Annette Lake side and out to that trailhead a month ago -...

very cool! Been thinking of getting back in there of late but went and skied 3K of glorious corn (a first this season!) down Sahale...
How was the snow up in there, I imagine with the recent cooling trend, maybe some consolidation?
Also, how was the trek up to Dutch Miller Gap, did you walk it or was there any snow coverage?
Loved the descriptions, that's a burly trip!

Fantastic trip! Glad your board didn't fully disappear.
Sounds like some honest adventure there! Nicely done and thanks for sharing
Sweet!! Makes me wish I would've skipped work and joined Ben in that endeavor when he extended the invitation. That's some cool terrain. Nice work.
Nice trip! I snowboarded summit chief solo years ago and had a great time. Didn't quite pull the loop you did there. Looks fun!
Mission Ridge = Done. Colchuck Glacier season just starting!
Were you booting until above the boulder field?
Were you booting until above the boulder field?
Didn't study them, but I recall that I noticed the NBC has big gaps in the snow.
Did you get a look at any of the Colchuck couloirs?
