Ron, Jeanette, Jerry, Darryl, Chris, Eric, and I toured to the fabled MRNP Stash for October turns.  Conditions were thin on approach/exit, breakable crust on some shaded aspects, and sweet, sweet butter on the Stash proper.  The thin cover warrants particularly close attention especially in rocky areas (hidden holes can swallow up skis), but in all the Stash delivered the goods.

This month marks my 5 year anniversary of skiing all year, and celebrating with Ron and crew was especially fitting as it was their early trip reports and fun outlook that played a large part in getting me skiing year around.

A great day, great company, great turns, great views!  8)

Congrats Marco, Well done!!
I hope you had your sunscreen with you yesterday.

Thanks Bigwave!  Yep, lotsa sunscreen, Ron's patented "PIYM" energy drink, blister tape, and cool micros at basecamp courtesy of Chris helped us through those bluebird conditions...    ;)

Marco It was a pleasure to help celebrate your 5th TAY anniversary :D. The scenery and fall colors were beautiful, the October snow was fantastic!  Here a just a couple of photos.

The legend of "the stash" continues and lives up to it's billing as the late/early season come thru in the clutch spot! Great day, great people, and great corn/ breakable crust. Keep showing me spots like that and I will keep bringing the microbrews. And yes, ditto on the "be careful due to thin cover" comment from Marco, my bases got a "stone grind" that I didn't pay for or want.

Chris

The Stash delivers fall turns again.
It was fun to see Marco ski it on his 5th TAY anniversary.
Here's a couple of examples:

Got a couple more shots of the tour HERE.

Wow ! way to go . I've never seen stashlandia look so smoooooth!
Jeanette , in that one pic  it looks like your grooving into JW style.
that be a killer combo of styles.

Thanks for the kind words Robie, grooving into the JW style is something I've been working towards  :D.  We missed ya, it was one of the best days on the Stash.  Only a tiny bit of crust at the top and then it turned to smooth as silk for the rest of the journey, and the "geezers" made it back there in record time ;D.

I doubt that JW style is something to shoot for, but what do I know. The Stash did deliver as Only You Know and I Know ..... enjoy!

Jerry,

that vid was awesome man! You sure are getting good at this and I love being considered one of the "talent". I will be the talent in your vids anytime!

Thanks for an awesome day on the mtn.

Chris

Congrats Marco on your 5 year streak . I got my October turns on Sat ( month 47) and thought about going up on Sunday as well but the wife had other things for me to do. :(
Great viddy and pics as usual guys.
See you out there soon.

Ooooooh, I so regret having a mountain of homework instead of snow! :'(
Awesome video JW, Hope to get out with you guys soon!

Is one of the rules of the stash that one  is not allowed to tele? Just asking.  ???

JW - Another classic video, perfect soundtrack too!  You're the master, dude.   8)

Scotsman - Thanks for the congrats, looks like you've got an anniversary coming as well!

Telemon - JW's video opens with the group Tele rep (Darryl) standing tall and proud!

I was on telemark skis and at times, I was standing up on them.  Snow slut has pictures of me augering.

Great video, Jerry!!

J, fun video, and very fun day in the sun  ;D.

Darryl augering in.

Bluebird, great company, good snowboard jokes ;D and creamy smooth vanilla and chocolate chip snow.  What more could I have asked for???

Thanks, snoslut!  That wasn't augering - it was a dumb ass telemarker doing a snow stability test.  Why should I use my shovel to dig a pit when I can create one by ramming my head into the snow pack?

I think there should be more tele jokes than snowboard jokes.  A crash with tele skis is like playing twister with 5 foot 2X4's on your feet.  I appreciate a good crash - but that picture made it look like Darryl is still upright.

What a great day!  Sorry I missed it.

yeah, guys...nothing but the best!  great pics and video too--you guys know how to do it up!  i'm jealous that you had to wear sunscreen.
