Snowboards were never an option in my household, so twenty years ago my son learned to tele on basically parallel X-C skis (telemark skis hadn't evolved much at that point and there certainly was...

Couldn't you find a bigger pack for your son, Don? ;)Well, like father, like son.
There is always a chance when you turn down a ski adventure that you will wish you hadn't. I passed up on Travertine's invitation because I had a number of yard work obligations and also due...

I just got back from my search mission. I tried to look for spots that the camera was likely to have come out of its pouch. No joy to report and, in fact, the skiing wasn't even joyful. The fallin...

Did you make use of a back country pass (if available) or pay the full lift ticket price? Sure sounds like a decent November day, either way.

I was about to post my trip report when I noticed that Travertine had beat me to it, so I'll just add my bit on.With the prospect of a drying trend after a deposit of new snow, I had decided to j...
I should note that there may be options beyond the point where I stopped. In the cruel month of September,2005 I found a patch of semi-turnable snow/ice about 1/2 mile past the Coleman Pinnacle that r...

Travertine has covered the Saturday portion of the trip very well. My son,Gabe, and my buddy, Tom K.(who is known by several members of the TAY community) arrived at the Artist Point parking lot late...
I am planning on following a similar route on August 1st. Hopefully this heat wave will not destroy the snow pack significantly.
I use a Pentax Optio W60 when skiing, because I want to to able to shoot photos without inconveniencing my partners and I don't ever want to worry about waterproofness.
Sorry that I couldn't join you (I had a great high school reunion, though). Squak or Easton to the summit is on my must-do lists for next late June/early July.
I certainly wish that I could have taken advantage of your offer to allow me to tag along with your party. I am going to block out a big section of my late June/early July 1010 calendar for a Squak Gl...
