Great day.  Exceeded expectations. Our group of 3 (combine age 168 years) took a little over 4 hours up, but I must say that the bike training that Doug has been doing, including 100 mile rides has really paid off and he was well ahead of me unlike last year.  It felt longer than normal because you have to walk on trail to where we started skinning at just above Pan Point.  I think we walked about 1.5 hours before skinning.  We wore our ski/snowboard boots, but some others had trail shoes.  You might get some snow in your sneakers though.

The snow was excellent and highly enjoyable.  Virtually smooth.  The top was just a bit grabby due to wind-pack but just a little ways down it was 2-3 inches of fresh over what seemed like wind packed base.   Not sure of the exact composition, but there were only a few patches of ice.  The sun was mostly filtered and I would think that conditions will remain good if the weather cooperates.  You will see from the photo that you can not ski just anyplace this early in the season.  We tried to go as low as we could, of course, but when the fresh is 4 inches but the rocks are 12 it gets difficult.  We made it all the way to Muir, really.
Definitely great day . The epitomy of fall skiing. I got a later start (after 1) and is remarkable how much of that snow on trail you show in pic #2 had melted. Probably saw 2 dozen other skiers/boarders?

Weather held up pretty good, nice light sneaking under some of those high clouds later. Was amazingly quiet in the auditory sense: no wind, no rockfall, just high mountain peace and quiet. For once I was NOT the last skier on the hill, one other fellow also up there at 5PM. We ended up being the last two cars in the lot but made it down with plenty enough daylight. The Pebble Creek snowfield skied nice on the way back and it was possible to traverse back to the mainline on very thin rock studdded snow without having to thrash on talus.

Really great snow conditions later this afternoon.

Wolfs, you must have been the one approaching Muir as I started descending at 3:50 or so.  Hard to believe the clouds held off.

Nice to meet some of you guys on such a fantastic day. -Brad

edit: the author of deleted post above this must've figured out the (very good) photoshop.

Great day of skiing up there.  We made it up to Muir around 11 ish.  Is it now standard TAY policy to post a picture of yourself at Muir to validate that you were actually there?

I didn't see a picture of him actually at Muir.  I call BS on his 10-years until I see a photo with him in it.......and I'm knot kiding.
