I left before ScottH posted his TR for December 31 and he was right.  I waited in the parking area hoping a trailbreaker would arrive - no such luck.  The sun was shining, no wind in the tree canopy and temperatures were in the mid 20's and were ideal for skinning.  I kept hoping someone would pass me but I had to wait until a couple of skiers arrived from the Commonwealth Basin side.  Once on the upper open terain of the Knob the easterly breeze was cold.  The snow quality remained excellent during the tour.  The 2 skiers ahead of me headed towards Commonwealth Basin and I was the only person atop the Knob.  I saw yesterdays tracks on the top but they were getting filled in by the wind. It remained sunny throughout the tour and the only wind affect was on the top.

I skied an untracked slot on a SW aspect and it was boot deep consolidated powder.  Worked through the trees to the upper road then skied a gulley skiers right of the rocky knob down to the old growth.  Total run is about 1900vf and the last 500vf requires careful scrub avoidance.  Hopefully the next storm cycle will lay down the remaining scrub.  A great tour with boot deep powder and untracked lines so close to home.  ;)
Well done Zap---first TR of the new year!  8)

nice, was gonna head there tomorrow but looks like a warm front is happening.

OMG !!! Zap you broke trail.  ;D The pictures look darn good sounds like you had fun great start to the New Year.

I believe I was eyeing your tracks from the Triple-60 lift and was jealous I couldn't wake up early enough for a tour. Nice work!
