Nice to have the December drought behind us. Ski conditions around Washington Pass are very good right now. The DOT stopped plowing the road at Early Winters, so the snowmobile ride is long, but the skiing is worth it.
Stability seems to be improving rapidly. We are still watching the facet crust combo in the mid-pack but we're getting less and less results on this layer. There has been some minor wind transport but it hasn't adversely affected the ski quality at treeline and below (at least in the few places that I've been this week). We haven't had too many observations in the alpine but what we've seen looks pretty good.
There has been a bit of snowmobile traffic off the road. Spire Gully has quite a few tracks in it and the next big path up the hairpin valley is pretty hammered. Other than that we didn't see any other tracks in the valley on Jan 1.

For once one of your video posts don't piss me off while I am at work :) Great video. Loved the over the top day shots. 12 inches in 4.5 hours will do that. A wonderful four days of skiing....

My pleasure Garth. I'm glad you are finding the reports useful. I don't envy your job. Our goal is to send you more information this year. Hopefully we can follow through with that.
Nice update. If things ever settle down to mile post 134......might have to make a trip up from the West Side.....
Great video. If the folks in The Sierra, Wasatch and Rockies see the video, Mazama will be overwhelmed. ;)
