I simply can not even imagine that this is possible, let alone accept it.  I am so very sorry for what you must be going through right now.  It was always very special to see what the two of you would share together next in the way of an adventure.  Inspiring, too, to see what possibilities can be shared between soulmates.  Retracing your steps so often over the years in the local hills, I felt I knew her much better than actual encounters allowed.
It is fitting for me that I spent one of my finest days on powder snow ever with her (and you, of course).  I am touched to have had that opportunity to know her.
Yesterday, while on Teanaway Peak, I thought of the two of you and whispered a little prayer, looking out at the country she loved so much.  Any other year you both would have probably been within eyesight.  (I was beside my brother when he died a couple weeks ago in his own bed, and suddenly I am seeing comfort in prayer like I never have before.)
If motivation is hard to come by and you need a tele partner to give you the extra boost, let me know, ANYTIME.
John

oh Gordy, She worried about me constantly. That quote I heard thousands of times. But her greatest fear was leaving me alone. I can hardly type. Thank you all.

She did worry about you, Mike. It was fun to listen to her worrying about you, "That, Mike!".

What a beautiful lady! A beautiful, bright, contagious smile!

I can hear her talking to herself as she telemarked down a slope.

She will be missed by many!

I am very sorry, Mike.

Words are inadequate. Our deepest condolences and sympathies.

We don't know you, Mike and Brenda, but we feel like we do through the great adventures, pictures, and comments posted on TAY. Mike - your love for your beautiful wife Brenda is so evident in the comments and pictures you've posted. Never any pictures of you. Always pictures of Brenda making some awesome turns or climbing through blowing snow and tough conditions. Always bragging about Brenda, and rightfully so. She seemed to have such joy and energy.

We've bumped into you in the Rainier backcountry over the years - on Mazama Ridge, at the Castle in the Tatoosh, and most recently last winter skiing the slopes beyond the back bowl off Mazama Ridge. It was just me and my husband Greg back there, and you and Brenda. After friendly hellos, introductions, and a brief chat, you headed off to enjoy your solitude, us to enjoy ours - doing what we love, in a place we love, with the person we love.

We are so very sorry for your loss. You were on our hearts as we skinned up towards Muir yesterday and looked across at the Castle. Tele turns were made in Brenda's honor.

-Gail and Greg

We are deeply saddened to hear this. You are in our hearts Mike. We sure will miss that smile in the Tatoosh.
