To tap or not to? was created by sconey
I thought the set-up I acquired last season was going to do me for...longer. New set-up is here and I would like to tap the holes. Skis call for 3.6mm bit so guessing no metal? Does anyone have a tap I can beg, borrow, barter for? I am not above bribery. I live NE Seattle and am commuting currently to Mercer Island. Thank you!  Scott 2062956871

No, tapping for binding screws. Have not done that before. Perhaps overly finicky. Then again, an ounce of prevention...

Do you plan to keep on skiing and mounting your own skis? Why not just buy one:

FWIW, I tap all my mounts whether or not there's a titanal sheet in the binding area. I think it's a good idea for a number of reasons with no real downside except it takes a few minutes longer.

KLW ,your my kind of mechanic, I often use a small disc wheel on my dremel tool to make my own tap out of a binding screw. Works good on aluminum and titanal. We should probably should buy one someday as Greg suggests.

KLW, Nice McGyver! Yeah, I am in no danger of tearing out a toepiece.
gregL, You're right. I bought one. What's another 22 bucks at this point?
Can you advise which glue you favor? Thanks!
