Thanks for the feedback. It is good to know I am not alone. I will definitely try the paper bag ironing trick.

Andrews got it, iron off glue with strips of paper bag until the glue is clean. Then add thin layer of BD glue.

I have a pair of this years Black Diamond Ascension skins and have found the glue to be overly sticky. They're not to difficult to pull apart when folded but pulling them off of skis with skis still on is nearly impossible.

If they're just too hard to pull (and not leaving glue on the skis) I just put a 1 inch line of gorilla tape right down the middle. A couple of years later when the exposed glue gets tired I strip the tape back off exposing a strip of fresh, clean glue and I'm good to go for another couple of years.

If I start getting some glue on my bases, I hot wax or hand, a thin layer of wax  on the ski.  Does not seem to mess up the glue on the skin either.  I don't put much effort into getting the glue off the bases, I  just wax right over everything (and hardly ever scrape (lazy would probably be the reason...).

A word of warning, glue was getting on my bases and I did the paper bag + iron treatment to lessen the amount of glue. This worked a few times. I'm now due for a reglue because of skin failures from having too little glue.

Yes, well-used skins need to be reglued from time to time unless you replace them with <½ priced skins from STP in late summer :-). If you want to reglue your skins, I suggest following Jeanette's (forgot her TAY name, well-known skiing partner of Ron Jarvis) procedure (here on TAY somewhere) of using a heat gun with its scraping to remove the glue and then painting on a thin layer of Gold Label or some such brand name. It is fast removal and application of glue. I've done this several times but since I switched from telemarking to AT (and use custom cut skin savers) I haven't had to reglue or deglue :-)
