Skin glue too sticky was created by Erik Henne
I have a pair of G3 skins that are way too sticky. The glue comes off on the bottom of my skis and reduces my skiing enjoyment factor.
I handle this pair of skins the same way as my other skins. Always keep them on the skin protector, don't let them touch dirt, keep them in a dry place. These skins are only two years old. I have other G3 skins for my other skis and my wife's skis that are older and still work brilliantly.
I figured I wasn't the first person to have this issue, so I did some searching and found this: www.turns-all-year.com/skiing_snowboardi...dex.php?topic=9416.0
The conclusion there is they blame the ski wax. But, mine is definitely a skin issue. I can barely get the skins apart. There is so much residue on the skin protectors that they are glued together. And I have a hard time getting them in the bag because everything is so sticky.
I am going to get my skis tuned tomorrow and am going to buy a new pair of skins. Has this happened to anyone else? I did I get a bad set of skins, or did I do something to cause their demise?

You are not alone. Everyone I know with G3 skins has had the same problem, myself included. I always bring a scraper, and in the spring (in CA) bring a little bottle of goo gone and paper towels. It's impossible to ride with glue on the bottom of your skis.

Ah, glad to hear many others are suffering my gooey fate as well.
I found temporary relief by ironing it with a brown paper bag. I plan to do that much more aggressively in the near future (it's awful in the summer), until it either fixes it or I have no glue left. Then a BD gold label glue renew will happen.

I tried EVERYTHING to de-sticky my G3 skins.. I ended up trashing them and going back to BD ascensions. no more problems. I started rolling my skins instead of folding them glue on glue, seems to work much better, and they roll up smaller as well. When you want to unroll them just fling them and they unroll!
my advice - Black Diamond glue is 10000000000X better, reglue or get new skins.

I have a pair of this years Black Diamond Ascension skins and have found the glue to be overly sticky. They're not to difficult to pull apart when folded but pulling them off of skis with skis still on is nearly impossible.

When my G3 glue gets gummy, turns black, etc. I just iron off the excess with a brown paper bag between the iron and the glue; skin still sticks well to the ski but the glue doesn't come off.
