Awful news. My deepest condolences to anyone who may have known the victims, and sending out hopes that the injured get to care quickly and recover fully.
My experience in four trips (three on the north side and one of the south side of the range) has been similar to that of Chamois. A tough reminder of the risks of the sport.

The guides there are very careful. I can't remember ever once being grouped together in an area where our group would have been caught all together. It must have been a HUGE avalanche out of no where to catch that many at once under the professional guidance of that outfit.

Having relocated to Spokane, I'm anxiously waiting to see if any of my Seattle friends are involved and who the guides were. We skied out of the Nordway Hut 3 years ago- that area has some big open slope terrain... I'm going to Big Sheep in a couple of weeks, which will be new terrain for me.

Wow that is terrible. Does anyone have recent info on their snowpack? I have only skied there once a long time ago but I recall it being more continental. Just curious if they are experiencing something relatable to our layers and recent events or not.
