Details just coming out - this hits close to home, since I skied there last March.

Taking my 5th trip there end of March with Wallowa Alpine Huts. Details sketchy, make it sound like it was guided trip.

I found guides very professional. Always concerned with safety. - always skied one at a time. Will need to hear details - we're they guided or just stayed at huts previous night. Jesus this is not good.

I came across this incidient on a different news site. Very terrible to hear about this tragic incident. I stayed at in one of their huts in Big Sheep Basin last January. I was caught in slide not too far from the hut. I was lucky enough to stay in front of the debris and avoided being buried.

From location on www.wallowaavalanchecenter.org/node/949 and indication of 'cornucopia mnt' (and update to story indicating staying at cabin) party staying at new WAH Schneider Cabin (6 party max + guides--this group is 6 plus 2 guides).
Strong hope two with broken legs evac/out pronto and safely--sounds like sled groups mobilizing to help too.

Oh man!  I hope the snowmobilers can get there quickly.  At any rate, it's going to be a long night for everybody.  Prayers...for those who died, the injured, and for the survivors and the rescuers.  Kiro is working on the story for 11PM.

La Grande Weather Service Facebook page has some new updates   Looks like at least one injured has been evacuated.
