I'm guessing the "fine drivers" part is new. Plus the enforcement. FWIW the victims of the Tunnel Creek slide had a ride lined up and the hike was open.

I know that the people involved in the Tunnel Creek slide had a ride lined up, but I'm not sure what that has to do with this topic. I only mentioned that because that's where I saw the sign in the video.

I think none of this is new, the fines or the enforcement. It is likely just an awareness reminder that it's illegal.

I only brought it up because of the way the information was lined up was seemed to imply (not on anyone's behalf, just the way the posts were presented) that they were doing a restricted activity. Just wanted to stem that off before uninformed conjecture commenced. In retrospect, my comment was probably entirely unnecessary. Oh well.

I stand by everything I wrote in that email though, and think Amar's suggestion is a good one.

So you think that kids will be killed because of this (apparently long standing) regulation? It seems a bit of an over reaction if this has been the status quo for years.

Maybe some education on the dangers and responsibility of leaving the resort would help the situation.

Education is always good, but won't stop humans from being humans.
Every action has consequences. If WSDOT/WSP manages to scare drivers into not picking up hicthhikers, those people (who do not have uphill equipment) will find themselves with no other option than to walk up to the resort or down to the tunnel, both of which are dangerous. I simply described one possible consequence of their actions to get them to think the plan through a little.

Also, I was pissed because they are being stupid. So there's that.

Apparently the irony of this statement is lost on you. I'm done here.

No, it is not. But thanks for insulting my intelligence with petty snipes. I too am done here.
