these stoves work amazingly well... for what they are.

As for how these work as a stove (and in the context of using these in winter) I would not rely on one they do not burn hot enough to be efficient (IIRC ~7min per cup, room temp, sea level...). This design doesn't work well with common backcountry mugs (Snowpeak, GSI etc.) is better suited for pot size, unstable without a hard level surface and are extremely susceptible to wind. I also found they were not any more fuel efficient than a canister stove.

They are fun to make and fun to use when you have the time and comfort to play with them like summer.
