I made one in 2002 as my first stove. I now own 4 stoves, so I would say that this is NOT the only stove you will ever need. It's good for boiling a little water, but that is it. You won't be simmering rice, cooking bacon, or flipping pancakes over an alcohol stove.
I never tried lighter fluid. Denatured alcohol can be bought just about anywhere. If that doesn't work, HEET in a yellow bottle works great. I've found it at every gas station I've ever looked at. Even in the middle of the desert.

Something about this stove intrigues me ...
I imagine carrying a couple of versions of this stove, one optimized for boiling water as fast as it can manage. The second one could be made with fewer "jets" for cooking at a lower temperature.
When you think about it, the convenience of having two burners is quite appealing. The downside is that you have to carry a whole nuther stove.
