ACL issues again was created by PS44
I would like to re-open this topic as my friend will need a surgery. In the past, several surgeons were recommended here but I am wondering whether I could re-fresh the list.

Anyone had recently a good experience with Seattle-based surgeon and can recommend one?

Thanks in advance for a reply.

I highly recommend Dr. Scott Hormel in Seattle. Here is his bio:

(206) 386-2600

He did my ACL reconstruction in 2008 (I was referred by a friend) and again in 2012. I have referred several friends to him. Great surgeon and staff. He's a skier and also a really nice guy.

I'd recommend checking out Dr. Peter Mandt. He did my knee in 2004. Great guy, great credentials (Steadman-Hawkins Clinic Fellowship), skier and doc to the U.S. Ski team for a time.

I have seen both Hormel and Mandt, and I can give good recs on both.

It also kind of comes down to which flavor of ACL replacement you decide to go with- Mandt does a bit more patellar tendon autografts, while Hormel prefers Hamstring quadbundle autografts. Both will do allografts as well, but from my own personal experience with graft failure I can't recommend them for highly active people.

Both guys are highly qualified- Hormel is more personable IMHO and located in Seattle at Swedish/Providence, Mandt was at Overlake when I saw him and driving to Bellevue was a bit of a pain (no pun intended).

Dr. Fred Madsen. He did my shoulder, not sure if he does knees, but they have top-notch orthopedic surgeons at UW.  I'm sure someone could recommend a knee guy.
