I talked to physical therapists and they say Dr. Larson is one of the best knee guys around. He did mine about 10 years ago and did a great job. I'd recommend him if he is still practicing.

...my left ACL was reconstructed using my hamstring tendon in 2000...rock solid ever since, thanks to twice weekly PT for 6 months...my UW surgeon has since moved to california...i highly recommend you pick your physical therapist before hand, and there is nobody better than Peggy Halwachs of Waterfront in Edmonds...she is an expert skier and also undergone ACL reconstructions...if i was in need, i would go see her and solicit her input for your game plan...

Thanks for the replies.

Any good surgeon at the UW?

John "Trey" Green of the UW has repaired my torn meniscus and is highly qualified for ACL as well...

The comment about picking your PT cannot be understated; can't speak to Seattle PTs (certainly there are many very good ones) but Lyle Bogart in Tacoma is an absolute magician. Outdoor athlete beyond almost all of us and injured and self-rehabbed beyond almost all of us. Ph. D. in PT, a lower body expert, rehabs many athletes post ACL tear +/- repair, brilliant about injury prevention and sport - specific conditioning/training. And all around blue chip guy.
