Don't be jealous, CONSUME!

Now you can make your buds jealous:

That's not the High Mountain version and the regular Cham 97 is very heavy and has a whole lot of metal in them. I have a friend with the heavier version and trust me...you don't want to be lugging them around even with dynafits on them.

Good price but stick with the HM versions for touring.

Yeah, just saw that. Dynastar doesn't list a weight for the all mt.

I did see the atomic charter for $350 on eBay. I bet this would be a great do everything rig.
Light, well thought out construction, tip rocker, camber underfoot, atomic snap, short turn radius, low price...

The Charter looks like a good ski but a bit on the heavy side for a lightweight volcano crucher.

The Cham HM series looks like interesting skis but not super light and kind of weird with lots of camber, stiff tails, and exaderated rocker.

I just picked up a pair of Nanuqs but unfortunately can't give feedback yet since I haven't skied them. I've heard very positive things and I'm pretty stoked on them. They are quite light (7 lbs 6 oz +/-) for the 184 cm, great geometry for spring and summer skiing, mild camber, and a bit of rocker, and pretty stiff.

Also heard good things about the Vector.

I just bought '10-'11 BD Aspects 176 cm, thinking they'd be good for spring/summer, anybody know if I did good there? Not used them yet.

for reference, what are you skiing now?

For spring/volcano lighter is nicer but understand not going superlight due to mush and wanting some edge hold.

I went from old k2 shuksans at 78 waist w/ metal (decent edge hold but not good in mush) to a volkl inuk at 83 underfoot. The inuk is lighter (about 6lbs for the pair) and holds an edge close to the shuksan. The slight tip rocker helps in the mush but wouldn't call it easy in the mush, just better than a full camber ski. The tails are turned up a bit - I wish they were 100% flat for easier anchors, guying out a tent, etc. For me, I wouldn't go too much wider or heavier for a spring/volcano ski. Light skis make a huge difference on big vert days.

I have a friend w/ the Lo5 and he really likes them in all conditions. It's a great ski. BUT, he is considering something lighter for the volcanos.

If you don't mind the weight and want the 95mm +/-, the lo5, nanuq or cham 97 HM are prob the right ski. Whichever one you can get a great deal on will probably be the ticket. Of course they will all ski a little bit differently but super positive reviews on all 3...

If you can go a little wider and can afford it, the DPS Wailer 99 might be even better in the mush plus decent weight at about 7lbs pair in 176cm.

If you don't mind going a little narrower, the Cham 87 HM looks great too.

good luck.
