Truck campers

Anyone have any experience putting a short bed camper in a long bed truck?  Was going to build a rigid box to mimic a short bed's length.....wondering if it would interfere with tie downs by landing them in a bad area.  Boy the 2500 duramax seems to hold onto it's value well - glad I got a good deal on the camper.

^^^^yup, took your advice....why be locked into an rv site when you can have the pnw as one. Hopefully this thing will be parked somewhere out that way every year from june-sept.

Nice unit. The two piece fiberglass construction used by Bigfoot seems to make a good winter camper.

On-board genny's are nice for microwaving food or A/C while in a hot rest area parking lot; but for overnights a quiet portable, like a Honda EU2000, is more friendly to you and your neighbors.

Take a look at the Truck Campers forum over at www.RV.net . There's a few folks running short campers on long-beds who regularly contribute to that forum. Your biggest issue will be keeping the center of gravity at or forward of the rear axle. The tie-down issue should not be such a problem - except that you'll have to measure for the exact length req'd. The tie-downs may interfere with your fuel door - which is just a PIA.
