Mission Ridge Sidecountry info? was created by Jonn-E
Hey knowledgeable eastsiders: how is the Mission Ridge sidecountry? I haven't skied Mission since the Pleistocene but I bought their Groupon and I'm skiing there Saturday.

Should I bring my touring skis or is it traverse/bootable?
Is it worth it to check out with the current/expected snow conditions?
Suggestions on where I should go?

Thanks and looking forward to some much need Vitamin D!

administrative note: I figures since it was a question not a TR it should go in Hot Air but if this should be under Lift-Served please move or let me know.

Most of the MR sidecountry is bootable, and/or side stepable. Most of it is easily viewed from the lift ride up chair 2.

You bet! There are many others on this board who can be much more detailed than I was about specific shots. Specificity seems to be the emphasis as of recently. ;)

It is pretty much all visible from the lifts or even the parking lot as mentioned above. Try to get in line early (8:30ish). Maybe enjoy a couple high speed groomers early (they are underrated). As for what is going to be good this weekend I'm not sure but the east side of the valley sees less sun but maybe more wind.

If the forecast holds true it should all be good. We'll most likely be skiing out windy ridge. If he Liberator is down you might want your touring setup. Depends upon the speed and direction of the wind. Hope you enjoy your trip over.

The snow was ok in the morning, but by 1300 or so it was raining cats and dogs. By the look of the weather forecast we are in for some precipitation, but the temps are trending to the warm side. There is plenty of skiing to be had in the side country (Clara lake basin is a nice tour with possibilities for some turns) but with the possibility of rain, you might want think about bringing a bike just in case.
