It's hard to say from your description, but one issue I had with NTN when first using them in deeper snow was keeping the inside ski from diving.  NTN seems to demand a more compact stance, front to back -- i.e. your trailing foot is tucked in right behind your leading foot in the turn.  Once I adapted a bit I was much more able to break the bellows and weight the ski without feeling out of control.  It took a bit of an adjustment, but skied great after that.  Dialing back the spring tension a bit definitely helped in the short term.

I would agree.
I just got back from chatting with Adam at ProSki on Aurora, he suggested going to the lightest power tube (white) while on the Pontoons and dialing it light to create the most amount of wiggle room, and then changing the skier attitude on the Pontoons to a schmeer (more sloppy) move that allows the ski to perform and keep me upright more than the binding. Then I spoke with Dan at Pine Mountain Sports in Bend and he cautioned against the white as it could blow the binding out based on what a Pontoon should be able to do. Hmmmmm. I really appreciate all the perspectives.
I currently have the Green Power Rods, but one is seemingly stripped. Replacing it is no small effort as I call around looking and searching online.
Looks like I have some fun homework ahead....thanks for the help!

that's dumb. What does he mean "blow the bindings out"? Your boot might pop out of them, but it's not going to "blow the binding out". I got a pair of white ones you can try, but I'd bet green on 1 is plenty soft. Are you sure the power tube is stripped? Sometimes it can be tricky catching the threads on the cable when replacing them.

I ski my NTNs using red springs at setting 2,  FWIW I weight 235lbs

The above comments about stiffer springs being more tiring to ski don't make a lot of sense to me -- but then my tele style is more "butt to heel" rather than a "knee to ski".

Last season I did manage to break the frame on one of my NTN bindings -- but that happened after a hard landing in the terrain park.

Randy's comment re: butt-to-heel rather than knee-to-ski is exactly what I was getting at... the butt-to-heel, in my experience, is what the NTN system favors and is the style that makes it pretty effortless to ski.

If your green cartridge is truly stripped out, I probably have an extra one you can have.

It may well be a product of imperfect form, but a less return force setup is easier for me to control.

I'm around 165lbs on a good day and try to butt-heel rather than knee-ski.

With the Blue Power Tubes set high it is more difficult to break the bellows, especially without resorting to a deep poodle for more leverage. With less return force dialed in at Green-2.5 I'm able to keep a more upright stance and also get low and compact, and everything in between without throwing what feels like all my weight on the uphill leg.

It's the groove I found and it works for me.  :)

I tend to think that flexing the bellows is more a function of good technique than of binding function -- "active" bindings can help facilitate boot flex -- but learning to pressure both cuffs and flex both ankles improves skiing on all kinds of gear.
