SLC  Little Cottonwood, Drive past Snowbird and Alta then park on left side of road.  Great moderate to advanced  touring.  Skin up to ridgeline that parallels road.  Hit runs off backside.

I skied some awesome knee deep blower pow off that backside last year 4 days after the last storm. It seemed crazy since it was warm and sunny, but the snow was perfect in the trees.

Thanks!

On at least one direction, we'll head through SLC. I don't think either of us have yet skied Utah's fabled snow, so it's on the list. Looks like we'll have XC skis along too (Alpental has nearly double the self-reported base that Breckenridge does, and charges 40% less for lift tickets!), so the Sno-Parks may prove ideal.

We'll probably hit SLC on the way home - their snowpack needs love even more than ours:

A bit out of the way unless you are going just south of Pocatello on I-15 is Pebble Creek Ski area.
They don't have much in the way of snow right now, but the touring terrain is pretty awesome. The backside of the mountain is a zillion acres of semi meadow skipping terrain, and you can find enough steeps on the ridge lines to fill your shorts with brown wax too. I went there after it closed last year, followed a farm combine up the road to the area. Met a local and he gave me some insight on touring around the area. Came back from my tour and he had left a beer for me under my windshield wiper.
Thumbs up to "The Rock"!

I drove this route E > W yesterday and I am sorry to report that there's very little snow between the Cascades and the Wasatch right now. It looks like Anthony Lakes could be a possibility, but even the Wasatch is hurting for snow. There's (barely) enough coverage above 9000' for touring in the upper Cottonwood Canyons, but not as much base as we have here at 5k, and pretty marginal snow (highlights include fresh surface hoar).
