I have quite a number of 1st Ascent stuff (not any of the heli guide stuff) and it is the best bc skiing stuff I've had except for one pair of Patagonia Guide pants that I have had forever. I bought the first edition 1st Ascent Guide pants and really liked them but the pockets start coming unglued (I understand some of the RMI guides had the same issue). Even tho I had used them extensively and intensively for months, Summit House let me trade them for the 2nd gen Guide Pants without any hassle. So they study behind the guarantee; no muss, no fuss; no issues with the new pants. BTW, I really like the ski bibs, leather gloves, and super lightweight rain shell.

I have some FA gear and quality has been really good. I have the BC-100 hardshell which I have used a lot the past few years for climbing and skiing and has keep the weather out when needed (& breathes pretty well).
I like that the hood fits over my helmet easily as well as having pockets which sit above my backpack waist strap and climbing harness. BC-200 is the next gen. Depending on your needs it might be a lighter & cheaper option.

When Eddie Bauer first decided to re-enter the technical outerwear market, I admit... I was a little skeptical. I have been pleasantly surprised with the durability and quality of their gear. I don't think I would ever pay full retail for their stuff (I rarely pay full retail for any brand, so that isn't really a slight) but their gear has treated me well.
My favorite FA piece is the big expedition Peak XV down jacket. I got it on sale at the end of the season a few years ago for $150. Quite possibly the best $150 I have ever spent.
my 2 cents.
