You may be right, Scotty, at least by this definition:
"cult: An exclusive group of persons sharing an esoteric, usually artistic or intellectual interest."

I 'spect there's quite a few of these cults, sects, churches, or whatever you want to call them -- groups of positive, fun loving friends enjoying their camaraderie in the mountains that they love.  But I doubt much that even a drop of mandatory fatal “kool-aid” is dispensed. While some may consider our "kool-aid" to be "toxic" and therefore chose not to partake of it, it has yet to cause a fatality at one of our services

True, but at least for me it’s not so much from moral inhibitions as practical restrictions… for I sunburn easily (and, no doubt, even easier in areas that seldom see sunlight) and I really don’t care to interrupt the balanced beauty of the mountains

AT skiers, of course, would hold the highest orders in the Church priesthood. Tele skiers would be allowed to serve in the lower ranks.

I'm down with that, since from my various vantage points, the laity have a lot more fun than the clergy. Thanks for the video - I learned a few new techniques: can't wait to try that pole throwing thing, and of course the F word should come in handy now that I know it's ok to use in "church".

Ron, as a wish for your salvation, I invite you to try the Light Side , also ripped from the TT archives.  It is regrettable that these guys are on skinny sticks and leather, and really can't ski, but at least the sound track should give you peace.  Best
