Ski Trab skins?

I have the original tail latches on my skins and went whining to the guy at Marmot I bought them from when I couldn't turn them in the cold. He filed them down so they werent so thick and they work just fine. The Trab tail attachments actually work well. Even though I couldn't turn the "latch" on the first generation one because the tail of the ski was too thick...
But RonJ - that tail latch seems much better.

I saw some reports on wildsnow and backcountry.com. It wasn't the attachment system so much as some folks thought the skins overall were not as good as BD, G3 etc. with a Trab-specific tail. It was suggested to use a standard tip loop. What are the advantages of the Trab tip attachment?Where are these so-so reviews?

I use BD skins (just like Ron's).
- Marmot MT installed the TRAAB attachments for me.
- my front end attachment is still working well though I have wondered about plastic in the cold and am not surprised to hear they break off.
- the back end attachment is funky (ron does not have this), but has worked OK for a year now (after they filed it down so it could turn easier).
Normal BD attachments are easier to use, they are probably a few ounces heavier though. I doubt the back end would work because of the notched tail.

Super secure and snug. Zero possibility of the skin shifting around up there and hence zero possibility of snow getting jammed underneath the skin up near the tip. What are the advantages of the Trab tip attachment?
And as long as you take the time to swivel the little clip to the side, should last forever.
(By contrast, removing skins with skis on and w/o swiveling the little clip to the side could stress the plastic to break.)

They are also super clean and out of the way of ski edges - after chopping up numerous sets of BD tip loops and stabbing myself with the cable ends, I appreciated this.
