Do you mean is it worth the trouble of tuning your skis for the summer season?
Every few weeks I smooth out the burrs from whacking volcanic rock, hot wax with Swix LF 8 and LF 10, 1:1, brush with coarse nylon brush.
Some yellow helps with those sticky flats . . .

Seriously, learn to do it yourself. It's very satisfying and doesn't take much to get started.Who is doing this now for spring skiing back country?

+ 1 on being very satisfying
When I was a kid I had an $8 iron and used one of my dad's steel files. Now I have a tool box for my edge / wax stuff and I need to get a second box... so beware
Frequency:
I try to wax every time, especially now. Sometimes I just do 3 passes (with 30+ min waits in between) but don't scrape and polish much. Edges get tuned regularly for the hard, but at this time I find they are still the same after 5 or so outings. Slush is easy on steel... When I start hitting the rocks I'll be fixing damage asap. I do carry a small stone on me most of the time - to fix damage or sharpen ad hoc but haven't had much need to use in the field yet.
Cheers

In terms of gliding performance, the scraping and brushing are just as important as the wax. You can often get by with just cleaning the skin glue off and brushing out the old wax if temps haven't changed.

Or...........on the eastside. Sturtevants (Joe does an excellent full tune), or Marmot, or ProGuide in North Bend.
