It appears the difference is that the $30(looks like it is actually $40 when you go to the purchase web page) fee is assessed per sled. The $80 non-motorized grooming park pass is per vehicle. So, I can take my family of four up for some groomed nordic skiing for $80. If I took a family of 4 up snowmobiling then the price for a permit would be $120 or $160 depending on which price uses. This all assuming my fuzzy math is correct.
Looks like the state is making a fair amount of money off the snowmobilers with the volume of registered sleds.
