Snopark permit cost was created by davidG
A bit surprised that my Snopark permit cost doubled to $41 this season (and double that if you want to park/use at groomed trail park, and it's non-transferable to a second vehicle you own, this year).  Snowmobile registration, which includes a Snopark permit, depending on which State page you look at, costs $30 or $40 or $33.75 .  I have the impression that registration was $30 at start of season but may be $40 now due to apparent discrepancy between motored and non-motored permit costs.  Anybody got the dope on this?  Still seems out of balance to me, but I'm happy to be educated..

Sounds pretty skookum to me!
If your registration includes the snopark permit it is like getting free parking in a city by registering your car.

I paid $80 for my snopark and groomed trail permit. Yes the Snowmobile gets their registration, snopark permit and over 3,000 miles of groomed trails for $30. It all comes down to who has a larger presence in Olympia I guess

Actually this is not accurate.
Snowmobilers must also purchase a grooming stamp that goes on the SnoPark Permit which is another $40 extra.

Humm? Doesn't say anyting here in reguards to snowmobiles needing that grooing stamp. It even informs you on grooming info:
www.parks.wa.gov/winter/snowmobiling/

But does say you would need one if I were to go to a non-motorized snow park here:
www.parks.wa.gov/winter/nonmotorparks/

I wonder why?

In the absence of better info, I believe Perkins is correct ie. that no grooming stamp is required for the snomo registration and permit.  The $40 grooming stamp appears to refer only to non-motorized use of ski touring trails (checkout trail names).  When registering your snowmobile online (and a Snopark permit is included), there is no prompting for an add-on groomed trail sticker and no where in the Parks' Winter rec Program is a fee for this otherwise mentioned.  I believe it may be possible that the reference to $40 snowmobile Snopark permit relates to out-of-State registered sleds who come to recreate (and park) in Washington, but my several calls to the Dept. remain unreturned. They make a point of specifying no refunds - perhaps people are paying for something they don't need?  I'm reminded of the Forest Pass discussion last summer.   Check it out if you want fortress.wa.gov/parks/ecomm/sno/dsnostp0.asp
