Learning to Tele on dynafits? is it even possible?

I have decided i would like to try tele because my buddy tried it and is now in love, but dont worry guys, i will stay with my AT gear until i am nice and old. The only problem with wanting to try tele turning is that i have none of the gear for tele, and honestly i am not going to spend lots of money on stuff that i probably will only use a handful of times until i get bored of it. SO, that leads me to the question, Is it possible to do tele turns on dynafits in the flat heel riser? Im assuming you would need to lock the toe a little bit( maybe the 2nd or third click?) But would it work just for trying tele turns for shits and giggles?

You can do this, but you place way to much torque to the toe piece and can do some damage to the binding or the ski (screw pullout). It's OK here and there in the meadows, but I would not recommend making a habit of it. If you do make sure your repair kit is in your pack.

Do not recommend unless you already know how to tele.

The best place to learn is on groomed terrain with tele bindings\boots.

Rental tele gear for a day is cheaper than replacement dynafit bindings...

You also won't really get the feel of the tele turn this way - getting the ball of the rear foot on the ski (or at least feeling like it's there) is pretty key to a solid tele, though one can certainly make a poor facsimile on tip-toe.

I tried it a few times when I first got dynafits maybe 10 years ago or so. It worked fine and was even mildly amusing on groomed slopes but I took them on steep bumps on chair 2 and ate it pretty hard down schluct. Without cables you can get tossed forward pretty easily and since you have to have it on lockdown mode your skis can become clubbing/impaling agents. But like I said it's easy enough on groomed so go for it. But it's really more like cross country skiing with a downhill ski.

The key to the "tele groove" is being able to flex your foot and drive the rear ski with the ball of your foot.   The feel of that is one of the factors than keeps tele skiers teleing in the face of all logic to switch to modern AT equipment.

If you are brutally strong and had superb technique you might be able flex the bellows of Scarpa F1 or F3s clipped into a Dynafit toepiece -- but this seems unlikely for someone want to give tele a try.
