You will come closer to "feeling" of a tele turn if you can find a mellow groomer.

Loosen up your boots, keep your heels locked down and try to ski only on the uphill ski.

Back in the day, people distinguished between telemark and fake-a-mark (when the rear ski is just brought along). Notice that many tele skiers today use really hurky bindings with strong heel retention--it makes it easier to pressure both skis; I don't really see how you could carve with the rear ski with AT bindings and a free pivot toe and the heel not locked down.

And if you are size 11/29 I have some tele gear ... but it still wouldn't be that cheap!

The key to the "tele groove" is being able to flex your foot and drive the rear ski with the ball of your foot.   The feel of that is one of the factors than keeps tele skiers teleing in the face of all logic to switch to modern AT equipment.

true

...

Remember though -- telemarking is stupid

That is why AT stands for "after telemark"; but I have to say, telemark turns in nice powder are the epitome of skiing pleasure for me--look at cchapin's report from Paradise today--but still not enough to switch back from AT, which really excels on the up and takes the work out of the down.
