Chris,
If it will make you feel better, feel free to mock my Southern or German roots anytime. Fertile ground there now, eh?

enough already (well, almost..), dear friends, with the illusion of Escrimination. Scotsman knows I offered no offense, but merely a belly laugh to the suggestion that i could moderate anything at all, much less a pack of love starved ski bums such as yourselves. That the video was a BBC production (not sure about source of UK accents) was merely a fortunate coincidence for our part time Australian friend who needed a segway for his gem of a vid.
If my explanation fails to satisfy, please feel free to add my Danish roots to Glenns offer, and in the meantime enjoy the pic here forwarded by a fiend to our north..

I haven't been following this thread too much -- trying to get away from the computer a bit and actually see what the outside looks like. When it first went up I was curious to see whether it would bring in some feedback, but that hasn't really materialized.
Some thoughts:
The Terms Of Use, combined with user feedback, remain the guidelines by which we moderate the site. Since we're humans at the keyboard, the application of those guidelines is subject to opinion, bias and mood. We do what we can to keep it as consistent as possible, but it will never be a black and white process.
My main goal is to keep TAY a place where people feel comfortable posting questions, having discussions, sharing information, whatever. To that end, the guidelines aim to keep the forums from becoming a crappy environment where the only people who post are the ones with a thick enough skin.
Applying this can be difficult. The kind of bantery back-and-forth in this thread, between people that I know are friends, is always going to get less attention than abusive, rude behavior. My primary concern with this stuff is how quickly it can scale into a "who's most shocking" contest, which is detrimental to the aforementioned main goal.
So, really, not much has changed in terms of what's acceptable, but the way we deal with it evolves frequently based on what's most effective.
Re: some of the other stuff in your first post, Chris... The photo limit is not really enforced at this time, though I'd encourage folks not to dump the whole camera up and to be selective to find the best shots. More revisions down the road with this one.
Video embedding may or may not come 'round. Any major changes like that will probably have to come with a big upgrade to the forum software, which I just don't have the time to contemplate at the moment.
Additional moderation help is always a possibility. Folks interested in it are certainly welcome to PM me. I won't be dropping out of the moderation side of thing anytime soon -- if you knew the financials for the company, it would be clear that I'm not in this for the money.
That was way too long. Back to work now.

Thanks Marcus. I appreciate your approach, especially on moderating.
My impression is that the photo situation has been due to technical issues. If so, I wonder if anyone out there can help. I've thought for some time that a policy of limited large photos and unlimited thumbnails might be a good approach. But thumbnails need to be working to adopt this sort of policy.

Can we post funny videos about fat people as well as JibberD's a bit on the plump side and I'd like to retaliate and mock him a bit.
