TAY annual review was created by Scotsman
Well another year of TAY is nearly over and it's time ( at least for me) for reflection and review of my beloved TAY.
There's been a lot of new people with interesting voices and views and some have fallen to the wayside alas.  Telemon is sorely missed and never forgotten by those of us who had the pleasure of touring with him.
The photo limit has finally gone to the trash bin( if not officially at least in practice) and despite the grim warnings by some it has not turned into a series of TGR like photo streams.
The neo-Luddites seem to have lost their battle against modern technology and their gripes about their dial up modems being slowed by progressive content largely ignored... thank goodness.
How about allowing us to embed videos in the new year???
Moderation has somewhat improved  and been a bit more liberal although there are still some sacred cows that  remain. The moderators are still subject to cronyism but then aren't we all. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone eh?
Seems to be only two official moderators now but I'm not sure the former third has got the message. I think there is a moderator throw down going on at the present and covert moderator  private part measuring going on as the moderators fight for moderator supremacy. Too deep for a pleb like me.
Personally, I think one of the remaining should gracefully retire before its too late and some new blood in the moderator seat would be good.

I'd love to see DavidG and Jim Oker as moderators or even better some younger people so that moderation is not biased towards generational nuances as I think currently is the case. I also think ,and I know I'll be in the minority.. that it's wrong for the owner to be a moderator as it's strikes me bit Murdoch like and if you want true editorial freedom, the the editors/moderators should have no financial stake.

Happy New Year fellow TAYers and thank you Marcus for making this all possible.

Scotsman for moderater in 2011!!!

Anyways, I am supremely grateful for all of the information and entertainment, good and bad, that TAY provides, it truly is a great resource and community. As I leave the Northwest, I will fondly miss everyone even though we are only acquiantances via cyberspace. I'll be sure to post a few choice TRs from the Wasatch and definitely when I'm in the neighborhood at Paradise to complain about the sheep pen. Happy New Year and great skiing wishes!

I've been away for most of the past few years. When I finally returned and saw that I was still listed as moderator I emailed back and forth with Marcus and we agreed that two active moderators is plenty. As for the rest of your thoughts on this particular subject, my personal opinion is that it's important to distinguish between personal projective processes and the world as it is actually constituted. Of course, not everyone would agree on this point.

best,

ex-moderator, current ordinary nebbish,

Mark

Wow I thought you were only visiting not going for good.... good luck in Utah. I'm sure they have the same issues as we do and their own sheep pens. Snowpack different.. so learn its' peculiarities and be safe.I hope you don't find the discrimination against non Mormon's too bad ... I know it can be an issue especially in business and thats from personal experience.
.Although TAY is in my opinion extremely parochial (to it's detriment.... how many posts from other areas do you see largely ignored??) I don't see why you can't keep posting TR's. I'll read 'em.
BTW never wanted to be a moderator ( got offered once) although many don't believe me.

OH thanks for the correction as I heard a different story but I'm sure your version is correct.... I shouldn't listen to rumors... lesson learnt.
