Terrible accident was created by Scotsman
A horrendous and terrible accident that resulted in two deaths, one a 5 year old.

This is my big fear if people with poor judgement keep insisting upon skinning up Rolling Knolls and Queens run at Crystal on a busy Saturday.

Even when skinning up the sides you are often in a position below a blind rollover when skiers/riders coming from above can't see you.
Now it is the uphill skier's riders responsibility to ski in control and avoid people stopped in bad positions below which is why when I ski I regularly tell people stopped below blind rollovers and steep sections that thats not a good idea, but three skinners one behind each other making kick turns........... mmmmmmh that's inviting disaster and creating a danger that doesn't need to exist and a total disregard for other people.

Go skin in the BC to your heart's content but please... stay out of the ski area.

agreed. Skinning has its place, and its place does not include busy slopes of skiiers and boarders that may or may not be in control. If you do skin in a resort, check with the patrol first and ask them where you should skin. if they arent sure, head to the dense trees where it would be hard to ski down. or better yet, a novel concept, the BACKCOUNTRY! thats my 2 cents.

i know i'm just feeding the troll by responding, but that tragedy in wyoming doesn't involve folks skinning inbounds....its about a snowboarder traveling at an unsafe speed...I don't care if downhill traffic is stopped in a zone with limited viz...while that may be unsafe , its the responsibility of the downhill traveling skier or snowboarder to avoid those who are stationary or going slower.

Precisely. Why is it that there are far fewer out-of-control skiers than boarders... Too bad. N

I ain't trollling. My original post that degenerated was for the same reason ... I think skinning up a main run in a  ski area on a busy Saturday is dangerous and puts people at risk for collision and this is what can happen in a collision.

Again... why create a risk when one does not need to exist...... stay away from the ski slopes and skin in the BC. This my alternative view and one I feel strongly about hence my post and TAY the perfect place to state it as again, it's my belief that TAYers have a propensity to this type of behavior based upon my experience formed over skiing with them for many years and reading their views on this website. If you interpret that as derogatory.... tough... from my perspective its a fact  and it is what is.

I make no apology for feeling strongly about an issue of general safety and what seems to me personally , as common sense.

The people skiing up Rolling Knolls last Saturday obviously rationalized, "  its the other people's responsibility  to avoid me....not mine........so I will do what I want even though I am adding to their risk."

I have to agree with Pete; this has little relevance to skinning inbounds.
Although I have to also say that I cannot imagine any reason whatsoever that anyone would skin Rolling Knolls or Queens. That just sounds stupid.
However, I really do appreciate the privilege of being able to skin out Meadow and Quicksilver at any time of day. It is one BC access route that many people use very often and it would be a shame to lose it.
