Precisely. Why is it that there are far fewer out-of-control skiers than boarders... Too bad. N
Do you have the data to back up what you have said here or do you just have a general dislike for snowboarders?

I have followed ski area deaths pretty closely over the years and have reported them many times on TAY. Quite honestly, I can't remember a reported incident where someone skinning at a ski area was hurt, maimed or killed-- though obviously not denying that such incidents occur. But, in light of actual numbers, I have to remain convinced that this is a potential problem that may or may not be an actual one.
It would feel it presumptuousness of me to draw many conclusions, make inferences, or extrapolate much to other situations with the little information presented about this tragic and heartbreaking event.

...... This my alternative view and one I feel strongly about hence my post and TAY the perfect place to state it as again, it's my belief that TAYers have a propensity to this type of behavior based upon my experience formed over skiing with them for many years and reading their views on this website. If you interpret that as derogatory.... tough... from my perspective its a fact and it is what is.....
You paint with a really broad brush there Scotsman. Your perspective = fact, hmmm. Like taking the above accident out of context to prove your point.

If the ski area is closed I think that is a different story.

Well all generalizations have their limitations( like the NWAC report) but yes in my view, from my perspective, it is a fact to me, that generally TAYers are predisposed to skinning in ski areas..why... many reasons which I'd be happy to list but we digress... Russ, debate the viewpoint not me and keep it civil and as Marcus says if all you have to offer is a snarky remark... then don't bother.
When I read about the incident today the first thing that came into MY mind was that many people underestimate the danger of collisions and the damage that can be inflicted by them and that the common defense of skinning is " well it's the uphill skier/rider's responsibility to avoid a collision with me so what's the problem with skinning a ski run?".
Logically I just can't get there as if that's a defensible position then logically why not allow people to skin up Lucky Shot or even Iceberg??? Most of the more serious incidents I have had at ski areas have been because of collisions and I think many people underestimate the damage that can be inflicted .
