Are dogs ok at Hyak? was created by doc_i
I know they're not allowed at the operating snoqualmie areas, wondering in Hyak is ok when it's closed.

Thanks in advance!

We saw two dogs running along in front of a snow cat apparently belonging to the two dudes inside it and a couple of other tourers with dogs so, if not okay they at least seem to be tolerated.

From what I've seen, the correct protocol if someone tells you that no dogs are allowed is to smile, say "thank you" and continue on your way. Might be different when the lifts start running.

When the area is closed, dogs are usually running around the mtn. When the area is open for nordic or alpine, no dogs. This means no dogs fri-sun or holidays, but ok other times. I frequently hike the hill with my dog during the week.

A general statement not nessisarly directed to the OP.

Aside from ski area rules...

Hyak is also a community, that is directly adjacent to the runs.
If you are touring with your dog, please make sure that it is well managed and otherwise not being a nuisance out of respect to local residents.

That said, I would say from observation that the majority of dogs that we have seen touring up here with their masters have appeared well behaved.
