Kicking Horse is great, but i'd place it more at medium than a small area. Revelstoke should be placed in the same bin.
Had a pass at Bluewood for a year, i'd give it a meh. Ok, constantly harassed by patrol for actually skiing, but the snow and trees were nice.
It's a shame I just missed North/South ski bowl....
Lookout pass is sweet when a storms in and silver is shutdown for wind

I assume you're talking about the current incarnation? Back before the expansion the folks I knew from Golden described it as being pretty small, but with BIG sidecountry, most if not all of which was absorbed by the new upper lifts. Reveltsoke went through a similar transition in the past decade.Kicking Horse is great, but i'd place it more at medium than a small area.

Lots of great suggestions here.
Although maybe not the "best" I'm surprised nobody has mentioned either Leavenworth or the Mountaineers Meany Lodge.
Leavenworth is a really cute (TINY) community hill--a ropetow at the foot of the most storied ski jumping hill in the Northwest. And a newer "D" size jump that anybody can try.
And Meany is the ultimate throw-back. Established in 1928. With ropetows operating continuously since 1938. The only place I know where they still allow rope grippers. Old-school communal lodge ambience.

Cuyahoga Valley National Park might be the third, but it appears to have only X-C trails.
One search said there are 5 national parks with X-C operations.
Anyone know if there is a third lift area in a n.p.?
Obviously I'm avoiding doing Saturday chores at home. :

I always heard there are THREE lift-sking areas in the National Parks, so I searched. One of only two operating ski areas in US National Parks

Lost Trail is by no means small in respect to acreage and is huge in respect to down home way things ought to be everywhere.
