Even if the person doesn’t want to extend their ski trip after taking a ride, I could still see them wanting a second can to re-load for the skin out, assuming they weren’t injured.

Not sure  if the user was talking about taking two canisters with him into the BC. Thats' fairly impractical IMO due to weight of a loaded cylinder but possible of course.
On the Snowpulse deflating and repacking the ballon is fairly simple although it has to be folded in a certain way to ensure good reinflation but that would not be a problem in the BC although would take about 10 mins to do right. Difficult in high wind or a blizzard.
Rearming the cylinder mechanism is very fiddly and involves changing a tiny weeny o ring  on the firing pin ( for want of another word for it) that you don't want to drop( or will never find again) and coating it with silicon grease. You have to use plastic tweezers they provide so that gives you an indication of the fiddlefactor but  no air in the BC so he'd need a second complete head mechanism and filled cylinder as well.
Never heard of people taking two cylinders into the BC, but have heard of them taking two cylinders to their base where getting a refill ( dive or paintball shop) not possible.

WildSnow has a report about another airbag coming to market soon. The story is at www.wildsnow.com/3956/airbag-avalanche-mystery-blackjack/

There's also an interesting discussion there about the benefits, etc.

Saw those ABS packs in Switzerland last weekend and they are pretty heavy and VERY pricy. Somewhere in the region of $1200. I didn't think it was possible to have a pack in that price range but then it was Switzerland, in the Alps where everything is stupidly pricy.

The 30L Snowpulse is $1,100 here.

From what I gather the Mystery Ranch is going to be in the $800-900 range.

I got my Snowpulse second hand from ones that had been rented to a heli ski company for $800.
From the times I've used it so far I can't say I've noticed the extra weight.
There's no doubt about it... it's an expensive item.
