Bummer tele.skier, you've shattered my delusion - in my senility I thought I'd been enjoying a bit of rocker. The good news, I have it yet to look forward to!

It wasn't that long ago when the BD Kilowatt came out and they had a demo at Crystal for a variety of skis. The BD guys were pretty cool and we demoed a pair of the new Megawatts with tele bindings on them. The tele binding was set for a smaller foot so the heel block was south of mid foot but not quite on the heel. I took them through some tree runs with marginal snow and they skied pretty awesome. Sliding sideways and such on tele made for a fun time. I viewed them as a boutique ski as it would only be used under certain conditions. The BD guys at the booth were stoked that us old duffers were hip on the system on what was the breakout of the Megawatt ski.
Anywho back to the Kilo's. The BD rep told me that they only had the Kilowatt in a 175 at the time, so I took those out and just tore the handle off the door. I could ski anything they were quick responsive, snappy. Just a little short for me with my long legs and tele stance sometimes the tip would get behind the opposite foot and have to pull a couple Cirque de Soleil moves going 30.
So when I returned the ski raving I said yeah I would love to ski that in a 185 and he told me that the 185 skis a whole different way than the 175. Something to do with the layup of the material to support the additional length changed the flex pattern of the ski. I thought that was weird, but sure enough when I eventually demoed the 185 it sure skied like an aircraft carrier that lost it's rudder. He was right, what a difference in skis. I have a friend who purchased the 185 and remounted them so they would respond better like the 175 did.
So the convoluted moral of the story is that maybe they know more in the industry than I know.
But I would never buy the 175, it's just to short in the overall picture for me.
