A few things:

First, an apology to koopac10, we are airing out our dirty laundry on your first thread.

Second, i have a fairly fast connection and computer and am working in IT- and I still prefer clean simple design over TGR style.

Third, I love to look at TGR, but I also love that there is a variety of styles for websites I look at.

Fourth, wide client access is important. The real value I see here is in the spreading of information to as many kinds of people, computers, etc as possible. I love being able to check conditions and reports from a mobile phone, or my parents aging PC, or a locked down work computer.

Last- is it THAT hard to click on a link for youtube? If it is a good video I give it its own tab or watch it full screen anyway.

Thank you everyone for the replies and answers to my NEWBIE question! LOL! I have been thinking about splitboarding as I am a snowboarder but short ski's with skins wouldn't be out of the question for me as well. What would have better control and efficiency for hiking up slopes for a snowboarder = splitboard or short skis? Do I need skins if I use a splitboard for hiking? Anyhow, thanks for the apology for the "dirty laundry" in my first post but I find it amusing! hahaha. also it appears alot of the replies were from skiers.....thanks alot guys and gals...I am one of the few snowboarders who has much respect for those that share the mountain!!! LOL. take it easy everyone and please respond to these last questions. :)

Try and borrow or rent equipment and see what works best for you. As far as which is better here is a thread that debates the issue.

No, you don't need skins with a split board, you can only use the skins when in ski mode. When in snowboard mode, you can't put the skins on the board. If you were in an area that didn't require skinning you could carry your board like a regular board without skins.
